Sioux Falls Pardons Attorney

A pardon is a procedure that allows a person to have a past conviction(s) sealed or removed from their record.  Receiving a pardon can lead to rights, such as gun possession and voting rights, being reinstated.  Pardons also make pursuing career and volunteer opportunities much easier as successful applicants are often able to shed the stigma attached to mistakes that were made long ago.

To apply for a pardon, the applicant must not have been convicted of an offense that is punishable by up to life in prison.  In addition, it is best, but not necessary, if at least five years have passed since the applicant was released from parole, probation or informal sentence conditions.

Ryan Duffy Law can prepare the pardon application, give notice to all the appropriate parties, prepare the testimony of your witnesses, obtain all necessary records, assist in the drafting of necessary statements from the applicant, and review character letters that enhance the applicant’s likelihood of being granted a pardon.

In addition, we will appear with you and prepare you for the parole board’s questions at your pardon hearing.  (See SDCL 24-14).  Contact us for a free consultation.
