In order to apply for a pardon, the applicant must not have been convicted of more than 1 felony and that offense must not have been punishable by up to life in prison. In addition, at least five years must have passed since the applicant was released from a Department of Corrections facility; if the applicant did not have to serve a prison sentence then at least five years must have passed since the date of the offense for which the applicant is seeking a pardon.
